Cherie Cheree

NOTE: I wrote this a few months ago and never posted - dunno why.

Lately I’m developing a new appreciation for stating the obvious. Like I admire NyMag getting all explicit about how Andrew WK is the best role model a young New Yorker could have. That had to be said publicly, but everyone was being too cool to do it.

In that spirit, I’d like to mention that Andrew W.K.’s wife, who only gets like a one-line mention in that article, seems pretty cartoonishly awesome. This bio is appropriately all-bold on her site, but I’m rebolding the especially bold parts:

In January 2008, Cherie teamed up with Patricia Moreno and created cycleSati, an uplifting, high energy ride which incorporates the power of the mind. Cherie has also starred in fitness DVDs through Gaiam and has performed at fitness conferences and events around the world. Cherie is dedicated to helping people live their dreams through fitness and mindfulness. In addition to Cherie’s group fitness achievements, she also supports her clients world wide with private weight, pilates, yoga, kickboxing, and personalized, multi-dimensional training. Always up for a challenge, Cherie enjoys living life on the edge. Outside the gym, Cherie travels the world performing as a musician, songwriter, and vocalist and enjoys competitive snowboarding.

As somebody who get’s more involved with things that are a bit too much, I think this style of intellectually/spritually overdetermined exercise will get me much more into fitness than the Sunset Park weight room’s doing right now. So it’s an aspiration of mine to take one of her classes at the Chelsea Crunch.

I’m also pretty intrigued by her (and W.K. produced) HOUSEROBICS music. Watch this clip. It starts off like that cheerleadery electroclash I had enough of in 2003, but by about 2 minutes in, there’s some genuine ecstasy. Sort of embodies for me the idea that the stuff “we” were jokingly doing back then is far more worthwhile pursued seriously. Or like deeply.

Cherie Lily’s current music project is a genre of dance music she created called HOUSEROBICS featuring original dance music infused with fitness. HOUSEROBICS is an exciting, new, high-energy, one-of-a-kind solo project blending house, aerobic dance, inspirational lyrics, and electronica.

Playlist Necessary?

Been meaning to post this - it’s a swirly-alternative mix I played at a rooftop party this day last month and on WHFR a few weeks ago. I like it I mean it’s sorta an exercise in obviousness, which I’m really into these days.

Lev Leviev: e-LEV-ate Me Later

When I think of the 5 or 6 people that would enjoy this mix most, it’s the same people that check this blog regularly. So if you’re reading this and it’s May, this is literally for you.

Oh and it’s also dedicated to the Lakers who either win easily or make an embarrassing mess.

Do not mistake coincidence for fate

Afternoon delight!

Whoaaa New England

There’s something about driving through the Berkshires on the most beautiful day of the year jamming Summer Feelings that’s both cartoonishly right and feels like it’s totally happening to somebody else.

So I sincerely urge you to go to the 2nd weekend of the Hinterland Film Festival. Cuz that’s what it was like last weekend. And, duh, the program was awesome.

Plus, to urge urge you, we’ve posted the classic trailer to our film O Nurse, which will be playing there this Saturday.
