Real and fictional style convergence: Philadelphia FRIDAY

Alright. Truth? Ada Egloff taught me how to dress when I was 17. Soo…Daily Candy, Philadelphia City Paper, Uwishunu, um…Teen VoguePaperI knoooowwww!! Right?!

We’re v siked about screening Blondes in the Jungle at Ada’s new Philly shop Oma this Friday. There’ll be $2 beers and wines (I’m thinking maybe even some sparkling wines) and a definitely warm, fun vibe. Plus music. Speaking of which, it’s been a minute since I’ve pushed the Blondes Inspirational Mix, at you right? Enjoy.

Oh and thanks to B. for sending me this today (I think cuz of its obvious Blonvergent qualities, right?) – way weirder/better than the blurb might suggest.

*BENEATH A PASSIVE SURFACE*
An Evening of Video and Perfomance
at Artists’ Television Access, San Francisco
Thursday, April 16, 2009. 8PM $6

This program explores the diverse realm of video and the various ways artists employ it as a process of communication, point of reflection, backdrop for action, and vehicle of abstraction. In “J.M.E. in MySpace: Tropical Feelings”, a Comic video essay about grime music and MySpace, Lev Kalman and Whitney Horn show that “beneath the passive surface of the internet, creative energy flows”. David Horvitz and Lukas Geronimas try to extend one of Paul McCarthy’s installations to include the outside world. In A.K. Burns “Electric in the Cosmic Age”, she wrestles fellow Bay Area ex-pat, K8 Hardy in orange spandex with sound by Matt Volla. “In the absence of daylight, we are haunted by ghosts and moths, which pass through walls and create holes in beloved fabrics.” Deville Cohen’s “The Wall” “explores the possibilities of Paper as a sculptural material, as well as its function as a carrier of a printed image.” Joshua Kit Clayton brings awkwardness and insight together through group exercise. And More!!! Artists in the program include:

A.K. Burns, Catherine Czacki, Joshua Kit Clayton, Deville Cohen, Maggie Foster, David Horvitz and Lukas Geronimas, Lev Kalman and Whitney Horn, Daniel Minnick, Kamau Patton, Marcia Scott, Margaret Tedesco

I SAW SLIM THUG AT LIL’ FRANKIES LAST NIGHT!!

Thats all,
L

Flashing(inginging) Lights(ightsightsights)!

Last week W and I bought THE AGGRESSOR

for a shoot, planning to return it to Guitar Center afterwards. But fate, Andy and parapraxis have conspired to make us keep it.

It wasn’t too-too expensive but I am feeling the hurt a bit. So from now on, for just fifteen dollars, I will bring THE AGGRESSOR with me to your party or function! Yes, you can have a “phantasmagoric display of 40 sound-activated, moving beams of multicolor light” flashing in response to your music! Seriously, this light easily adds a $75 dollar value to your and your guests’ evenings.

Think about it,
L
