Like looking in a Teen Vogue mirror
Obviously this adds up to no big deal in any way. But yesterday I had an — i dunno — uncanny experience reading this month’s Teen Vogue. In their “Fashion Trends from A to Z” section they recommend an MP3 for every letter of the alphabet, and whoever is writing that thing is waaaaaay keyed into the same thing as me.
I mean: Egyptian Lover - Freak-a-holic, Vanity 6 - Make Up, Heaven 17 - Temptation (Original Demo(?!)). So what right? a hipster works at a fashion magazine. And including Ratatat on the list — oh, it’s a Brooklyn hipster. Klaxons - Magick (SMD remix), well we read the same blogs.
But, come on — The Plantains - I Feel Love? They played like 5 shows! 5 years ago!
Whatever. Its just that I like to think that I read Teen Vogue for exoticism, and am surprised to recognize so much of myself in it. But then I guess that bodes very well for my plans for next Friday.
